Project Feature
LiUNA Local 506 Training Centre

The new LiUNA Local 506 Training Centre was designed to meet the growing demand for trade apprenticeship programs in the region.

A renovation and addition includes didactic industrial bays, exhibition hall, welding studio, learning and collaboration spaces, resource library, offices,  boardrooms, and lunchroom.

The centre provides training in four programs: construction craft worker, cement finisher, precast erector, and hazmat worker. Classrooms and workshop zones have been designed to recreate real-world scenarios to augment the student experience.

Glazing between spaces and hallways allows natural light to permeate the facility at the same time allowing student activity to animate the building.

COVID-19 Update
How We’re Protecting our People and our Projects

We’ve prioritized the safety of our employees and clients by moving to a virtual office environment. BNKC is open and is conducting all business from our homes.

Each team member has been set up with the technology to work efficiently while self-isolating. We have full access to project files and remain in close communication with each other and our collaborators through virtual meetings.

While these are unprecedented times, we do not expect this change to overly impact our ability to deliver excellent work. We are, as always, available to our community via email, telephone, messaging, or virtual meeting.

Our belief in the human spirit is stronger than ever. We are heartened by our industry’s ability to react, adapt, and do what’s needed to slow the spread of COVID-19. Together, we’ll weather this unprecedented challenge and emerge stronger on the other side.

We’re here to answer your questions or concerns.

New Ways of Working

Curious about our home office set-ups? We were too, so we asked our team to share their pictures. Inspired spaces! See more @bnkcarchitects.

We’ve been keeping in touch with our team via video calls. It’s a fun way to stay connected. Especially when we get to meet babies and fur-babies!

How are you staying connected to colleagues during COVID-19 self-isolation? Send us pictures or tag us @bnkcarchitects and let us know how you’re doing.

David Cloutier | Project Manager

Have you been lucky enough to work with BNKC Project Manager, David Cloutier? For more than 30 years, David’s been offering impeccable customer service to a select group of our industrial, commercial, and retail clients. This obviously means he’s established some stellar relationships. In fact, when asked who he works for, David will reply it’s his clients, not BNKC. Maybe we need to change his business cards!

Outside of work, David relaxes by experimenting in the kitchen. From homemade paneer, to gnocchi from scratch, to shrimp broth for risotto, David’s found one benefit of working from home during this time, is always being able to have something going on the stove.

David has a serious travel bug, and has been to France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Morocco, Egypt, Thailand, China, India, Peru, Portugal, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic, and Slovakia – some multiple times!

Sounds exhausting right?! Good thing he stays in shape! David relishes his time outdoors (obviously dreaming of the day when self-isolation is over) and is an admitted cross-country skiing addict. He’s also a power walker, cyclist, and has played on a hockey team every year since the age of five!

We’re certainly lucky to have David on our home team! Congratulations on 30+ years with BNKC!
