After completion of the Phase 1 Master Plan or the St. Andrew’s College Addition, BNKC was retained to complete Phase 2 of the St. Andrew’s College Expansion – The Centre of Innovation, Leadership, and Performance.
The new centre focuses on three major program elements: Innovation, Leadership, and Performance.
Innovation: the School now features a brand new Engineering and Robotics Department. It boasts an impressive collection of laboratories, workshops, and testing facilities for the science department.
Leadership: along the second floor is the Leadership Wing, which focuses on the School’s business and entrepreneurship curriculum. The centre features several independent meeting rooms, as well as a global business / conference room, giving the students the necessary telecommunication systems to practice their business skills abroad.
Performance: along the ground and lower levels is the Performance Wing, including a ‘black box’ drama room, theatre, and two-storey Music Hall. The new Performance Theatre features a large centre stage, as well as an impressive gallery level that is mechanically able to lift a full storey tall, or be hidden away below ground. The sun-lit Music Hall boasts innovative acoustic treatments and ample space for performances, as well as several practice rooms and recording studios.
Additionally a new link was created between the existing building and the new Centre, central courtyard, outdoor performance amphitheater, and new offices. Renovations to the School included the new Cole Hall Entrance, Dining Hall, Auditorium, and various support spaces including a new Reception Lobby, Offices, and Improved Accessibility systems and designs throughout.
The building has been designed to target LEED Silver and, as such, incorporates numerous sustainable design initiatives. These include energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, recycling of storm water for irrigation, and the incorporation of solar panels and reflective roof membranes.
