Following the Master Plan, the addition and renovations to the Royal St. George’s College included a large, new, light-filled art studio, new, interactive drama room, choir room, several science and study labs, collaboration spaces, fitness centre, administration and support spaces, new student outdoor sports fields, and full renovations of the existing gymnasium. Renovation work included extensive restoration of Heritage structures and other repairs to existing structures and included upgrades to building systems, IT technology and other support systems throughout this downtown campus.
The works also included extensive restoration and refurbishment of the College’s Chapel, a notable listed Heritage asset. This included providing barrier-free accessibility to the Chapel, complete restoration of the ornate choir section woodwork elements, restoration and enhancement of the striking wood roof trusses and ceiling elements, restoration or replacement of all interior finishes, along with the creation of a new stage, refurbishing of existing architectural features, and retrofit of historic lighting throughout.
