“I was that weird kid who always took the opportunity on trips to touch the structures (when allowed). I knew that I wanted to do something that would let me continue this fascination with the built world!”

Théo brings a unique approach to his projects, driven by theory and research. With a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies from the University of Toronto and a Master of Architecture from the University of British Columbia, Théo's academic achievements showcase his dedication to the field. Notable exploratory projects include "Revisioning Fire," exploring wildfire-resistant design, "InterFishial," envisioning a new Vancouver Maritime Museum, and "Balneae," a public bathhouse emphasizing inclusivity and community. Théo's passion for the profession is fueled by the talented and passionate team at BNKC, who inspire him every day. He's currently contributing to The Working Centre, an adaptive reuse project in Kitchener that is addressing homelessness in a mass timber building that is targeting net-zero carbon. Beyond work, he is an avid reader, occasional writer, and nature enthusiast. With an upbeat, curious, and inclusive nature, Théo Van Vugt adds vibrancy to the architectural world.
