North Radio Park is a high-density mixed-use neighbourhood within Calgary’s West District community. Designed by BNKC, Metafor, SMM, and CivicWorks, the development introduces a network of high density, mixed-use residential buildings connected by a network of open spaces opposite the newly opened North Radio Park.
BNKC’s scope includes schematic design and urban design services. The design incorporates the West District concept of urban livings rooms to the community scale. A series of outdoor amenity spaces stitches together distinct buildings, acting as a shared backyard for the residents and visitors. Carefully curated spaces guide visitors through the site anchored by a community centre and promenade.
The master plan incorporates an approximately 6,500 sq.m Community Centre and Library as well as mid and high-rise built forms. A clear block plan and phased development strategy support long-term implementation and flexibility, while sustainable design and active ground-level programming foster an inclusive and connected urban environment.
